What makes this location an ideal spot for trips is the beautiful array of islands in the region. If you are going for a luxurious cruising trip, it has to be on one or multiple islands of the Adriatic Sea. Here is everything you need to know:

What makes Dubrovnik a great place?

Dubrovnik is one of the rather intriguing islands of the Adriatic Sea. It’s a great seaport. It is center of Dubrovnik-Neretva County, it is also a prosperous location for many tourists worldwide. Some of the alternative names of the island are the City of Dubrovnik and Grad Dubrovnik.

Here are a few pretty facts about the location that you should know:

History of Dubrovnik

The small city may not be as old as many of its neighbors like Split and Island Vis, but it is still a pretty old city: it was founded by the refugees from Epidaurum in the 7th century. The location was originally known as Ragusa, and it was later under the protection of the Byzantine Empire – only to be taken over by the Republic of Venice. One thing that sets this city apart from its neighboring islands is that it was a free state from the 14th until the 19th century. It was also under French Empire Forces. It was then incorporated into the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy too.

It is famous for its GoT setting

If you remember Game of Thrones, HBO’s hit TV series – you may remember that the series is famous for filming in locations that are serene to the eyes. Dubrovnik is one of the locations that GoT filmed in. If you visit the island, you will be easily able to discern the various locations that you could find in the TV show.

Dubrovnik is famous for being a city that harbored some of the rather notorious empires of the time. They built great walls and fortresses in the region, and one of the biggest remnants of that era is the Dubrovnik Wall that you can still find even today. The Dubrovnik Walls loop around the entire city and take around 140 minutes to complete. They are not only a great spot for taking pictures in, but also for pedestrians who are looking to get around the city on a linear road.

Dubrovnik is divided into two sections: the old city and the newer, modern one. For tourists, most of the attractions like in the old town.
